About

Man being recorded in a studio setup.

Doug Clevenger is a Chicago-based Director of Photography specializing in commercial, corporate, and branded content production. Working with agencies, production companies, and brands, he creates cinematic visuals that elevate story, strengthen messaging, and deliver high-impact results across digital, broadcast, and branded platforms.

Doug’s work has taken him around the world, from paragliding in the Swiss Alps to filming underwater in the Blue Hole in Belize, with additional production experience across India, Lebanon, Italy, France, England, and Morocco. This global perspective informs a versatile, story-driven approach to cinematography across a wide range of industries and production environments.

As a Director of Photography, Doug brings expertise in cinematography and visual storytelling, lighting design for commercial and corporate productions, camera systems and lens selection, and collaborative production workflows with directors, agencies, and creative teams.

His experience spans commercial advertising campaigns, corporate brand videos, branded content, digital media, documentary storytelling, and television productions including work featured on Nat Geo, Discovery, and PBS.

Doug has won two Michigan Emmy Awards, both for his camera work on Great Lakes Now at Detroit PBS. The first came in 2021, in Environment/Science, Short or Long Form Content, for Chicago's Floating Islands. The second came in 2022, in Environment/Science News, for Birds vs Buildings.

Chicago's Floating Islands also took first place for Videography at the Society of Professional Journalists' Detroit chapter awards — a category that judges camera work specifically rather than the program as a whole.

In addition to ground cinematography, Doug is an FAA-certified drone pilot, allowing for seamless integration of aerial visuals into productions.
